Hi Everyone,
It’s September, which means kids are back in school and dryland season has officially begun. I have been taking part in some sort of dryland training for skiing since I was eleven years old. Running in the woods before my school bus picked me up, taking part in some sort of physical testing and lots of box jumps. And this year is no different. Although, my training has a changed a bit, adding my new love of skateboarding in the mix, I still train cardio and build up my strength around my legs and core. All these activities will help me feel good on opening day at Whistler Blackcomb and keep me safe throughout the season.
In addition, to dryland training this is when I start goal setting and planning out my Winter. When I was a competitor I would make a list of all the contests I would hope to be able to compete in, the type of tricks I would like to do and reach out to my sponsors to make sure I would have financial support to get me to these contests around the world. Now, I am more focused on making a positive impact in the ski industry and inviting people to the mountain that may not have ever been given the chance. Last season, I had the opportunity to host the Women’s Sports Foundation Athlete Ambassadors Program’s first ever “on-snow” event at Woodward Park City with the support of Delta Airlines. This is event was my biggest take a away from last season and going into this season I am looking forward to contributing to the ski industry with more of these types of events.
Finally, the best way to get ready for the season is to check out your gear. For my quiver of skis, I am trying to narrow it down to just one pair, but it’s not possible yet, but I am getting there, kinda. This is my dream selection below in order of usage.
ARW 100 179 cm (All-Mountain & Park)
ARW 106 180 cm (Backcountry Jumps)
ARW 112 175 cm (Powder)
ARW 88 171 cm (Park & Pipe)
I hope this helps you get in the right mindset so you have all your gear and body dialed before ski season starts in November, right?
Thanks for checking in,
Grete
